06/17/2024 - Blue Sky - Episode 012

Today's episode was inspired my friend Jake Sackett who put me on to a fascinating and super fun connection - Mike Mills from REM played the same piano at Criteria Studios in Miami on "Nightswimming" that was used in the famous piano coda in Derek and the Domino's "Layla." It led me to a super fun episode where we criss-crossed across the map to tell stories about The Allman Brothers, trip-hop pioneers Portishead & Massive Attack, soul legends The Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band, and the sweet tenor sax of Stan Getz. Hope you enjoyed the show!

Bonus Track

Bill Withers - Use Me (Live at Carnegie Hall) - A personal favorite Bill Withers track, the opener of his epic Live at Carnegie Hall record
